Dear Council Member Wallach,

Thank you for your inquiry. At this time, it is hard to advise on what time commitment would be required as the process selected by the Selection Committee will be the driver of this timeline. First, the Selection Committee must meet first to determine a process for selecting the library district board of trustee candidates and the number of trustees. The process by which this could happen is varied. Approaches could include:


1. Appoint the current 5-member Boulder library commission, with the BOCC appointing two more trustees from outside of city limits for a county-wide representation, for a total of seven trustees.



2. The Selection Committee appoints interested community members.



3. The Selection Committee initiates a selection process similar to that by which advisory boards are selected.



4. Another process as may be determined by the Selection Committee.

Further to Bob's comment at Thursday's meeting, I have spoken to Rachel and each of us might be interested in serving on  the Library District Trustee Selection Committee, but we would like to know a bit more about the duties of that Committee, the time commitments that service on the Committee would require, etc. Would that be possible before we express whether our interest is substantive?
