[BoulderCouncilHotline] Declaration Regarding Colorado Springs Murders

CAC Colleagues:

We are all horrified and saddened by last night's shooting at a Colorado Springs LGBTQ nightclub, at which five people were killed and 18 were injured. I know that we are reaching out to our colleagues in Colorado Springs today to express condolences and support. But, in addition to those expressions, I would ask the Council Agenda Committee to consider adding to the December 1 city council meeting agenda the reading of a declaration on behalf of council deploring this horrible act and standing in solidarity with the LGBTQ community in Colorado Springs and everywhere else.

Last night's terrible event touches closely on two topics that have been dear to this council and our community: Gun violence prevention and safety for our LGBTQ brothers and sisters. The least we can do is to publicly declare that what happened last night will not be tolerated, and that we will re-double our efforts to prevent this from happening again.
