Dear Council,

In preparation for the presentation by Boulder County on Thursday evening regarding Boulder County’s transportation sales tax, staff is providing this additional information.

Based on technical analysis, polling results and community feedback, Boulder County staff is recommending an extension of the existing 0.1% (one-tenth of a penny) sales tax to fund basic multimodal transportation projects, programs, and services per the county’s Transportation Master Plan, including:

  * Roadway safety and resiliency projects,
  * Transit capital, service operations, and programs,
  * Regional trails and commuter bikeways,
  *   Multimodal regional corridors, and
  * Mobility programs for vulnerable populations, transportation demand management, and first and final mile connections.

These funds will be used to provide basic multimodal transportation improvements throughout the county as well as be used to leverage grant funding opportunities with local, regional, state, and federal transportation agency partners.

There will continue to be an annual process through the Consortium of Cities to review and update the transportation project list over time, as well as the opportunity for public review and input as part of the county’s annual budget process.

Transportation sales tax Information provided to-date including staff presentations, video, and draft project lists are available on this Boulder County Transportation Sales Tax website: https://bouldercounty.gov/transportation/plans-and-projects/transportation-sales-tax-project-list/<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbouldercounty.gov%2Ftransportation%2Fplans-and-projects%2Ftransportation-sales-tax-project-list%2F&data=05%7C01%7Cstifflern%40bouldercolorado.gov%7Ceddfb1911a594e781adb08da69120798%7C0a7f94bb40af4edcafad2c1af27bc0f3%7C0%7C0%7C637937823419491500%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=K7Envpb4bob4YmI5ut9IiVhTx9n4Xb524wFp12lSXjc%3D&reserved=0>
