Dear Council,

I am sending the following message related to activities that have begun within the Homeless Solutions for Boulder County collaborative in preparation for the anticipated extreme weather conditions.
Boulder County Shelters Plan for Snowstorm Event for Individuals Experiencing Homelessness
Shelter providers increase outreach and outline an emergency weather plan for services during snowstorm
________________________________
Homeless Solutions for Boulder County is increasing outreach efforts throughout the county before an expected extreme weather event. The outreach teams are working with individuals to create plans regarding sheltering to ensure individuals experiencing homelessness have a safe place to shelter prior to the pending snowstorm this weekend.
If an individual experiencing homelessness does not have plans for the pending weather, the Outreach Collaborative partners share information where individuals may access sheltering and actively encourages individuals to access services prior to the extreme weather event. In the event of an extreme weather situation, the following sheltering options are available to individuals experiencing homelessness:
Boulder Shelter for the Homeless (BSH) - BSH provides individuals access to shelter services. BSH will follow extreme weather protocols, provide day sheltering, and determine additional capacity needs for overnight shelter. It is expected that critical weather conditions will be reached on Saturday and Sunday. Hotel room availability is increased on critical weather nights to allow for greater capacity at the shelter. (303) 442-4646
HOPE Longmont - HOPE Longmont provides individuals access to shelter services. In the event of extreme weather conditions, HOPE will provide both day and emergency sheltering.
(720) 494-4673
Mother House - Mother House provides sheltering services to women, transgender, nonbinary, and families. Mother House will continue to operate as normal, open for services each night (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.). In the event of extreme weather, Mother House will offer extended hours.
(303) 447-9602
SPAN - SPAN provides sheltering services for individuals and families fleeing from domestic violence. SPAN is operating as normal and continues to screen individuals over the phone.
(303) 444-2424
Safe Shelter - Safe Shelter provides sheltering services for individuals and families fleeing from domestic violence. Safe Shelter is operating as normal and continues to screen individuals over the phone.
(303) 772-0432
Tgthr (formerly Attention Homes) The Source - The Source provides sheltering services for youth up to age 17.
(303) 447-1207
Outreach workers are actively connecting with individuals experiencing homelessness to ensure they have primary and secondary plans in preparing for this weekend's weather forecast. Outreach workers continue to provide sheltering options to individuals to stay safe in the event of extreme weather. You can find out more information about Severe Weather Shelter (SWS) openings at the city's SWS site<https://bouldercolorado.gov/homelessness/homelessness> or on the BSH website<https://bouldershelter.org/severe-weather-shelter/>.

Thanks,

Kurt
