Good morning Lisa - thanks for seeking clarification. In the June Information Packet (IP), costs of just over $11K were categorized as "Occupancy". During the 2nd reading, this amount was interpreted as the rent paid to the Chamber of Commerce. There was some confusion about the cost being monthly or annually. Working with the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), we realized that the occupancy amount identified in the IP is actually the depreciation on CVB owned assets, set up as such from their accountant.

The rent amount is a separate line item in the Administration costs and is $85,220 this year. The lease agreement with the Chamber of Commerce covers approximately 1,000 of exclusive office space, plus another 1,300-1,600 of shared common areas including the lobby, conference rooms, kitchen, copy area, restrooms, and storage closets. Additionally, the lease includes a portion of the overall building property taxes, insurance, utilities, parking, snow removal, external repairs and landscaping, internet access and backup internet, VOIP service and backup VOIP, janitorial services, external signage and external property maintenance.

Subject: CVB monthly rent

Dear Kady

Last week when we were discussing the budget and specifically the convention and visitors Bureau's budget, the question of how much rent CVB pays to the chamber came up in the range from $1100 a month to $11,000 a month. The CVB office is located in the chamber of commerce building so the question is is that money city tax money and is that going to the chamber of commerce and how much is it per month ?

Thanks much

Lisa
