Hello everyone. Unfortunately I will be missing tonight's council meeting as I am travelling out of town. I did want to pass on a few thoughts about the agenda.

  * I am supportive of putting bonding for the middle income housing assistance program on the ballot. Thanks to Sam Weaver and Bob Yates for working on the proposal.
  * Regarding a potential sales tax, I am supportive of putting an item on the ballot for a 10 year sales tax that would devote 0.1 percent to Open Space purposes to replace expiring Open Space funding, and 0.05 percent to the city's General Fund to assist us with the many and varied other funding needs in the community. I would like to see the ballot measure mention that one of the projects the tax would be used for would be for the purchase of a conservation easement for Long's Gardens so that we can keep the agricultural uses like the Growing Gardens community garden on the site in perpetuity.
  * Regarding the tobacco products tax item, I am supportive of the proposed 40% e-cigarette tax in order to bring taxes for vaping products in line with other tobacco containing products. I look forward to our full discussion of other vaping regulations when they come back to us next month.

Best,

Aaron Brockett
