I am attaching two proposed amendments that council members sent in over the holidays.

I have concerns about some of Council Member Young's proposals  The Human Relations Commission is planning to discuss proposed amendments to the city's anti-discrimination code to add immigration status.  I recommend that council wait for input from HRC on this issue and not include the language regarding discrimination in this ordinance.  Also, I am concerned with interjecting the issue of racial profiling into this discussion.  The city has existing policies that address and work to prevent enforcement action based on race.  Those police provide the most effective means of addressing that important issue.
