Dear Colleagues—

I want to encourage you to consider attending the “Build A Better Colorado” bipartisan event this coming Monday morning (Jan 11th) from 7:30 – 9:00 am at BVSD that State Senator Rollie Heath mentioned at our legislative breakfast. This is an important opportunity to engage with our delegation in addressing important policy issues facing Colorado, including in particular the challenges TABOR imposes on ensuing adequate funding for key priorities such as education.

Have a great weekend,
Zan

Colorado is a state with remarkable people who have done remarkable things. We can be pleased by our historic leadership in so many areas, but today, our state faces some real challenges, including:

· The ease with which our constitution can be amended.

· Decreasing citizen confidence and involvement in the election process.

· The imbalance between citizens’ expectations of the services which their state government provides and the ability of their government to meet those expectations.
A growing and diverse coalition of concerned citizens, including Republicans, Democrats and independents, is coming together under the banner "Building a Better Colorado" with the shared belief that Colorado can be better. To start this effort, we're convening a series of community summits across Colorado. We need you to join us!

We are NOT advocating for any particular policy solutions; we are simply facilitating a conversation to engage community leaders in considering an array of policy options and soliciting their feedback. These community meetings will be supplemented with an online engagement platform which will allow all Coloradans to weigh in. With your help, we'll identify popular solutions that could be put before voters in 2016.

We are being very deliberate about identifying civic leaders within each community to participate in this discussion, and you have identified as one of those community leaders whom we need to involve in this conversation.

This is not about Democrats or Republicans. It’s not about whose side wins or loses. It’s about working together to make the state that we all love a better place for ourselves and our children.

We hope you’ll join us in Building a Better Colorado.
