Good afternoon, City Council members.

I wanted to let you know that I have spoken with Boulder Chamber staff, Boulder Tomorrow representatives, staff at Western Disposal, Boulder County and Eco-Cycle about the Universal Zero Waste Ordinance.

Once the ordinance is adopted, city staff will be crafting an information gathering and stakeholder input process in advance of posting for public comment its City Manager’s Rule. As a reminder, the CM Rule contains many of the details
for implementation and interpretation of the Universal Zero Waste Ordinance including its implementation and enforcement schedule; guidelines for education and signage; and the specific conditions under which haulers are able to bring materials elsewhere besides the Boulder County Recycling Center. 
 
The City Manager’s Rule should be ready to be posted for public comment sometime mid-summer.
