Hi Carl and Colleagues, I would like to bring to your attention to some items that I learned of today that would likely fall under Human Services and Human Rights:

-HCR (House Concurrent Resolution) to be introduced shortly by Lebsock and Scott, regarding exemptions for 50% off first 200K in "Homestead Exemption" for seniors has three components:
would allow folks whose homes were flooded and cannot rebuild on the same property to rebuild elsewhere
would allow spouses of vets to continue to qualify
would allow folks to move and continue to receive exemption if their current home meets certain criteria

-HB14-1328, currently already being monitored by Boulder, I would like to bring attention to the proposal that land line maintenance dollars be diverted to broadband that would potentially hurt seniors

-HB14-1331 sponsored by Rep Carole Murray and Angela Williams and Senators Kerr and Nicholson, would deregulate land line service in Colorado. In other states that have deregulated phone service, prices have increased dramatically. E.g. after deregulation in
CA the monthly cost of measured phone service increased 260 percent this would hurt people that are dependent on landlines

Thank you,
