Getting money out of politics should have primacy on the state and national legislative agendas. The very premise of rule by the majority now depends on tamping down the influence of corporations in determining policy, legislative and government programs. There is much that the state legislature could do to address the challenge posed by Citizens United, requiring, for example, that corporations obtain a 2/3 majority vote of shareholders before management spends money directly or indirectly to influence elections.

Therefore, I would like to see us add to the state legislative priorities, on page 85, the following:

"Support legislation that will reduce the influence of corporate money in statewide elections.

OR

"
Support legislation that will require business entities to obtain the consent of their owners prior to spending money to influence the outcome of statewide elections."
