Estimates are that more than $1 billion will be spent to elect or defeat each of the presidential candidates. Democracy cannot survive this torrent of money, most of which ultimately enriches the rent seeking broadcast media.

I believe that the Corporate Personhood priority, supported by 73% of Boulder voters, should therefore go at the top of the list of Federal Legislative Priorities at a Glance on page 86 of the packet. All other legislative matters are deeply influenced by the outcome of this struggle to get corporate money out of politics.

I think it is appropriate to include the corporate personhood Ballot Initiative description in the Democracy and Governance Attachment A to the Legislative Agenda on p. 87 of the packet. But the primacy of this issue to democratic outcomes argues for its being listed as the first of five federal priorities on p. 86.
