Although I have several questions for our study session tonight on children and youth, I'm only posting one now because it's likely that someone with an answer to this question won't be in attendance tonight:

The staff memo includes, as a potential new strategy to address some of the problems that youth in poverty face, working with RTD to consider new approaches to providing reduced cost bus passes and youth and people in low incomes. The memo notes that lack of transportation can be a major barrier to many of the programs and opportunities that youth in poverty could otherwise take advantage of.

Does RTD have such programs to support reduced cost bus passes for youth already? In other words, is this something they do in other communities? What currently exists in Boulder in the way of public transportation subsidy for youth? I often see teens on my bus (the SKIP) and wonder if their bus pass is through the school, neighborhood eco-pass or something else.

I know this is very short notice to post a question the day of the study session, but I figured no one from Public Works would be available tonight. If it takes a while to answer, I totally understand.

Thanks,
