[BoulderCouncilHotline] Question re: agenda item 3K

Good afternoon colleagues and Hotline readers,

I am writing to ask that the 6/21 agenda item 3K be pulled from the consent agenda and moved to what can hopefully be a brief discussion item.

CAC members: can we consider adding a 10-15 minute discussion on this item to our 6/21 meeting? I think this discussion can be brief because my questions are not about substantive issues.

I have two questions for staff related to Item 3K prior to our Tuesday meeting, which are precipitating my request for a brief discussion:

  * Can we consider having two ballot questions rather than one? One related to the cleanup of RCV and elections process (e.g., not allowing someone to run for two positions at once), and one related moving to even-year candidate elections (e.g., moving to even year elections beginning in 2024).
  * The proposed language mentions "skipping" the 2023 election. We are asking if voters would like to change when the regular elections are held rather than asking voters to skip an election. Can the proposed language be clarified so that voters are crystal clear in what they are voting for or against?

Thank you,
Nicole
