[BoulderCouncilHotline] Request for time to discuss Marshall Fire impacts at Tuesday's meeting

Dear CAC, staff, and council colleagues,

I would like to ask CAC to include time to discuss how our city can support the Boulder residents, workers, business owners, and students who have been impacted by the Marshall Fire at our Tuesday meeting, if at all possible. I appreciate that our agenda for Tuesday is quite full already, so I would like to ask CAC to consider pre-emptively extending our meeting Tuesday by starting earlier or planning to go later. I know this will make for a long e-meeting, and I appreciate that this request places an extra burden on staff, who have been working diligently in the past 24 hours to keep roads safe and clear of debris, assist with power outages, monitor the fire threats to our city, and lend support to neighboring communities as well as to their own friends and family members.

The fire-related questions that are immediately on my mind this morning, that I hope we can discuss, are:

  * Are we able to offer navigation services to those who work or study in our community but who live in Superior or Louisville, to facilitate their connections with resources outside the city that will help them find more permanent housing, navigate insurance claims, and access federal resources?
  * Similarly, are we able to offer navigators or connectors to any Boulder residents whose businesses or places of employment were damaged by the fires and who may find themselves unexpectedly out of work?
  * What supports are available to the many Boulder residents who have generously opened their homes to Marshall Fire refugees?

Thank you,
Nicole
