Housing and Human Services staff, I have a request for you for Tuesday night's meeting. If possible, I would appreciate getting a comparison of the number of beds of different types that are proposed to be available to people experiencing homelessness for this fall and winter versus the number of beds that have been available for the last two years. As I understand it, the number is going down dramatically and I'm concerned that we won't be able to meet the need for housing and shelter in our community this winter. Also, what will be the plan for overflow if the number of beds available at the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless fill up? For example, if a major blizzard hits and increases the need for emergency shelter?

Also, I would like to thank the Housing Advisory Board and Human Relations Committee for their well thought out and well presented recommendations. I look forward to discussing them during the meeting. As we do so, I would like for us to consider how their proposals could meet the needs of folks that aren't fully served by the current system, for example people that are unable to use traditional shelters, couples that want to stay together, people with pets, etc., and also how the proposals could offer living alternatives that provide more social distancing during the coronavirus crisis.

Best,

Aaron Brockett
