Subject: Support for S.2012; and FCC Rules Regarding Human Exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields
Council Members,
One of the outcomes coming out of last week's 5G study session was council's direction to continue to encourage our congressional delegation to put pressure on the FCC to complete their work and to consider the needs of cities in their rule making. The Colorado Communications and Utility Alliance, which the city is a dues-paying member of, recently issued this kind of encouragement and we wanted to make you aware.
The attached letters, to Sens. Bennet and Gardner, express gratitude for their sponsorship of S.2012 and convey CCUA's concerns over recent actions undertaken by the Federal Communications Commission which jeopardize local governments. It also calls out the concerns by community members with the new technologies that 5G networks will utilize and the potential health impacts of this deployment and asks the FCC to complete its docket to update its RF health regulations to give local governments new, updated rules on the health effects of radio frequency emissions related to 5G networks.
