Hi Tanya,
I appreciate the efforts that went into "fixing" the zoning map. According to Steve Pomerance's email, everyone is to be applauded--especially Chris Trice--for the quick and effective responses. I'm looking forward to taking a look.
Thank you!
Cindy

Good Morning, Cindy-

The new zoning map with an interactive legend is live and available to the public via the city’s maps page. Input from Steve Pomerance was valuable to the team and was used in making the improvements. Please feel to contact me directly or Chris Trice at 303-441-3298 tricec at bouldercolorado.gov if you have further suggestions for map usability.

Tanya,
Thanks so much for responding to this and explaining where things are in the process. I know many people trying to access city data will be happy with improvements. The maps are particularly problematic and I look forward to a more readable version.
Again, thank you for your attention to this.
Cindy

Good Afternoon, Cindy-

Thank you for the feedback regarding agenda item page numbers, as well as the zoning map and use tables. I am responding on behalf of Jane.

The page numbering is a known issue when accessing the agenda in the different formats. The City Clerk's office will work with departments on how to address best practices around numbering individual agenda items versus using packet page numbers in the full PDF version. As we work through this, a suggestion is to use the PDF version of the agenda packet, as the Clerk's office indicated it seems to be the one council members reference during meetings. The Clerk's Office will update Council on their progress as we work toward a solution.

I have forward this information to our GIS team and asked if there are options to improve the online zoning map as you described.

In Steve Pomerance's email, he raised concern about use tables as well. Regarding the use tables online through Municode, we have been working with our vendor to adjust the display of those tables to make them more readable and user friendly. When you open the use tables online in Municode, in the upper right hand corner there is an expand button you can click, which will allow a use to scroll through the table with the zones and modules header locked at the top.

I understand that Chris Meschuk, Interim Planning Director/Assistant City Manager and Lynnette Beck, City Clerk, have or will be contacting Steve to discuss his concerns.

In service,

Tanya Ange

Dear Jane,
I think the request for pagination would be helpful to all members of the public, including council members. The second request, for legible maps, is also long overdue in what the city presents to residents and other interested people. The council's appreciation for maps CU provided at the last CU South meeting is indicative of the need for more legible mapping for all of us. Please let me know if moving in the direction of page numbers and legible mapping might be possible.
Thank you.
Cindy

It also would be nice if the City fixed up the zoning map that is on line, so that a citizen could actually easily locate ALL the areas that currently have a certain zoning, and also those that are proposed to have the L conditions apply to them.

If you look at the on line zoning map, the colors are almost indistinguishable in many categories, and so telling one from the other is darn near impossible.

It would work much better if you could e.g. click on a zoning designation or designations in the Legend and have the map show those brighter or somehow indicate where they are, or some other approach that makes the map actually useful.

While I’m commenting on that sort of stuff, the current Use Tables are also almost impossible to read. With all the money that the City spends, getting some IT guy or gal to redesign it so that the modules and zones both stay visible would really make things a lot easier.
