Council colleagues,
I came across this report (attached below) on the Fort Collins Broadband Business Plan published last fall. As many know, Fort Collins passed a ballot initiative last fall letting them become a municipalize broadband as a retail model where the city totally controls the system or has direct access. This is the same successful model used by Longmont (some say the most successful broadband city in the US) and Chattanooga TN. Ft. Collins, Longmont, and Chattanooga all have municipally owned electric utilities, a key factor in their success of their muni broadbands.
I highly recommend council members reading at the very least the executive summary.
