[BoulderCouncilHotline] Boards and Commissions

Dear Council Members and Hotline Community,


As the subcommittee for Boards and Commissions, Mary Young and I are tasked with making a recommendation on the four vacancies that currently exist. A memo outlining process and recommendations will be included in the August 14 Council packet. Council is scheduled to appoint three of the four replacements on August 14t. The additional appointment will follow at a later date. This email explains our process and recommendations.


All of the material that Mary and I reviewed to determine our recommendations will also be available to Council in the August 14 memo. Council will have the option to approve our recommendations or nominate candidates from the pool provided in the packet. Our suggestions are based on the applicantions, their interview with Council and what, in our estimation, would best suit the board in order to continue the high-quality work that they do.


Human Relation’s Commission:

>From the pool of 2017 and 2018 applicants, we recommend Stan Deetz.


Environmental Advisory Board:

>From the pool of 2018 applicants, our recommendation was not available. We will be reviewing other applicants and will update everyone when we have more information.


Parks and Recreation Board:

>From the pool of 2018 applicants, we recommend Alli Fronzaglia


Regarding the vacancy on the Housing Advisory Board, we recommend re-opening the application process for ten calendar days. Because this is a new board and because it is important that the new board member actively collaborate to build a strong foundation and help create a highly functioning board, the application will include criteria that we hope can assist in achieving these goals. The criteria include: extensive experience on government boards and/or bodies, knowledge of public policy development and government process. Council will subsequently follow the standard process for interviews and appointments.
