Fellow Council Members and HOTLINE followers,

I have received a couple of questions about the HOTLINE post I made on the occupancy issue, and wanted to make sure that I was not mis-understood. There is no active proposal to discuss occupancy limits on this Council. Any discussion of this Council's future agenda will be developed at the retreat in January. I wanted to make sure that the broader community was aware that the CU Student Government had concerns with the issue, and was planning on putting a resolution forward on Boulder occupancy limits. I also wanted to share Jill's information as she presented it, so that the community could see the information that she shared in advance of the retreat. Finally, I had some additional information resources that I thought might be helpful for those interested in the discussion. Here they are again:

https://create.piktochart.com/output/6028982-untitled-infographic Moving a cursor over the map reveals occupancy limits in one college town in each state.

List of college towns with occupancy restrictions and their limits as of 2008:

In order to avoid a serial meeting, I did not express any opinions about occupancy limits, but it should not be assumed that by forwarding Jill's thoughts (with her permission) that I was endorsing those opinions. I simply wanted the broader community to be privy to information and opinions that were sent to Council on an issue of community concern. I apologize if my intentions were unclear - the post was intended to be informational for those interested in occupancy in Boulder, and not to advocate for any particular position.

All the best,

Sam Weaver
