Talking points for last night's update were provided to Council by planning staff member, Lesli Ellis (thank you, Lesli). Time for discussion was very limited so I will elaborate on them in an effort to provide council and members of the public a better picture of the work of the subcommittee.

-The committee consists of five committee members – three from council and two from Planning Board (Gray, May, Morzel, Shoemaker, Young). Staff members also attend weekly and include Susan Richstone, Lesli Ellis, Nick Grossman, Jay Sugnet, Jeff Yegian and sometimes David Driskell. Code for America is represented by Becky Boone. Members of the public are also welcome to attend and several have done so on a regular basis. Input from the public is taken during the last ten minutes of the meeting. This input has proven very helpful.

-The committee has met weekly for two months to provide guidance on the Housing Boulder process only (not policy or content). Committee members have also conducted some work outside of the meetings to contact speakers, develop questions for the speaker panel event and observe working group meetings.

-The committee has guided staff and Code for America on overall timeline, schedule, outreach methods and organization of upcoming community events (e.g., Speaker Panel on Apr. 27 for which the committee selected all panelists, and Neighborhood Workshops May 11, 13, 14, 18, and 20).

-Working groups are wrapping up their discussions in preparation for the aforementioned May workshops and will reconvene prior to the June 9 Council Housing Boulder Study Session to help outline a housing strategy for council input.

-On April 28 (day after the speaker panel), staff will provide a briefing to council on all activities and what to expect at the June 9 council Study Session. At last night's Council meeting, Council Member Jones asked for more frequent updates on the housing process subcommittee work. Given that we meet weekly, this would have been difficult to achieve at Council meetings. However, meeting notes are posted promptly by staff here.

The speaker panel will be held on April 27 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th Street and will also be streamed (link to be announced).

Thank you!
