RTD hosting Boulder Fare Study public hearing

Staff members seek more public input on proposed fare changes
DENVER
– The Regional Transportation District will host an April 6 public hearing in Boulder to gather further input on proposed fare policy changes.

Through an ongoing Fare Study, RTD is evaluating ways to simplify existing fare policies. The agency’s goal is to implement simplified fare policies before opening
five new transit lines in 2016, including a bus rapid transit or BRT corridor along U.S. 36 between Denver and Boulder.

During the first two rounds of public meetings, riders, stakeholders and the general public submitted input on various proposed fare policy options.
Based on that feedback, proposed changes to RTD’s existing fare structure include the elimination of light rail zones and transfers, and the introduction of a day pass that would enable riders to travel all day for the price of a round trip.

The upcoming round of public hearings will further explain staff recommendations and give the public more opportunities to share their thoughts on the proposal.

Those unable to attend a public hearing can visit
www.rtd-denver.com/farestudy
to submit feedback or call 303-299-3273 through midnight April 8.

Subject: RTD Public Hearing, 6 PM April 6

Dear Jane and David:

Consistent with the remarks of several Council Members at the Study Session, is the library able to route RTD to the Library Auditorium for the hearing on Monday? Judging from the overflow crowd at the public hearing on the BRT Service
Plan in March, the room now reserved for the hearing Monday on the proposed fare schedule will likely be way too small to accommodate the members of the public who wish to testify and/or observe the proceeding.

Many thanks.
