Glen Vaad is Gov. Hickenlooper's designee for the Public Utilities Commission. According to this press report, Mr. Vaad has been an officer of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) for a number of years and has also been the recipient of "scholarships"
 from ALEC. These are really not scholarships, in the sense Boulder people understand the word "scholar." Instead, it is money given to legislators to attend ALEC meetings where they learn about moving the ALEC corporate agenda in the 50 states. If this information
 was not known to the Governor when he made the appointment, then the nomination should be withdrawn.


The Colorado Senate should not confirm someone who is a climate change denier to the position of Public Utilities Commissioner.
