Thanks Macon. I will propose amendment language for council to consider tonight, so that it can be incorporated into the second reading ordiance.

Hi Mary, Macon, and Zan,

I presume you probably saw this article/know about this EV parking issue.

I definitely support non-EV's being ticketed for parking at EV charging stations, however I noticed one other detail which should be addressed:

The ordinance also would require electric vehicles to actually be charging at the stations to ensure they are used for their intended purpose, rather than as a reserved parking space, and would create a time limit that could be changed as vehicle charging
 technology improves.

Most charging stations are sited so that there are 2 parking spaces per charger. This is so that they can accommodate a vehicle that is waiting to be plugged in, or that just finished charging, etc. So when charging stations and parking
spaces are being optimally used there would be 2 EV's parked at them - 1 which would be actively charging, and the other which would be waiting to use the charger next. So the practice of ticketing EV's that are not actively charging would conflict with the
efficiency intention behind having 2 parking spaces per charging station.

I wanted to make sure people are aware of this issue before the ordinance is finalized.

Thanks,
Karen
