Dear Jane,

The young street trees adjacent to Shine and the Biergarten are being damaged by bicycle locks. The bark is being stripped from the young trees and the vascular cambium layer beneath the bark is getting scored--something which is apparent from the long
vertical slashes on the trees. This likely happens when bikes with U-Locks fall sometime after they are fastened to the tree.

I wonder if Forestry can do an assessment of the situation and take appropriate action as warranted?

Thanks very much.
